A Miami real estate tycoon, who was allegedly involved in a murder-for-hire plot to kill his wife, was discovered dead in his opulent mansion on Tuesday. The cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident occurred during an FBI raid as part of an ongoing investigation.

A SWAT team made a grim discovery on Tuesday morning in a luxurious gated community in Coral Gables. While collecting electronics, safes, and documents, they found the lifeless body of Sergio Pino, 67, in an upstairs bedroom. The investigation is ongoing, according to police sources cited by WPLG.

A developer is accused of poisoning his estranged wife, Tatiana Pino, multiple times with fentanyl, according to her claims during their divorce proceedings. He is also being investigated for allegedly hiring individuals to harm her.

Pino’s lawyer, Sam Rabin, confirmed that he passed away due to suicide and expressed concerns about law enforcement’s handling of the situation.

Tatiana reported experiencing respiratory problems and other symptoms in 2022. According to her, a doctor at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore supposedly found fentanyl in her system after she underwent intubation multiple times.

She suspects that her spouse was covertly administering her the lethal opioid. Tatiana accused Sergio, the founder of Century Homebuilders Group, of having ulterior financial motives for poisoning her.

She initiated divorce proceedings in April 2022.

Last month, the FBI conducted a raid on Pino’s Cocoplum estate and Coral Gables Office as part of an ongoing investigation into threats made against Tatiana’s life. Tatiana reported experiencing respiratory problems and other symptoms in 2022. According to sources familiar with the case, Pino reportedly enlisted the help of a part-time worker, Bayron Bennett, to hire three individuals to intimidate his wife following her divorce filing. This alleged incident took place on Pino’s yacht.

Bennet and the three men are facing charges in Miami federal court for an alleged hit-and-run incident at her Pinecrest home and for an arson attack on three vehicles belonging to her sister.

In August 2023, security footage captured the moment when Tatiana arrived home and a rented Home Depot flatbed truck suddenly veered from behind, crashing into the passenger side of her SUV before swiftly driving away, as reported by WPLG.

According to Pino’s divorce attorney, Deanna Shifrin, there is no evidence suggesting that he has ever caused harm or had any intention to harm his wife.
