Florida Man Doused Gasoline on Wife and Set Her on Fire after Heated Verbal Altercation in front of Daughter; Arrested after Dead Wife’s Body Recovered from Burnt House
Williston, FL- A tragic incident occurred at a Florida home, where a husband allegedly used a cooking pot to douse his wife in gasoline and then set her on fire following an argument over the air conditioning setting. The result was a devastating loss of life.
Robert Head, 58, has been charged with first-degree murder and arson. Williston Fire Rescue swiftly responded to a report of a structure fire, as detailed in a probable cause arrest affidavit.
Upon their arrival, the house was completely consumed by a raging inferno, with reports indicating that a woman remained trapped inside. Emergency personnel quickly entered the scene to discover a tragic loss of life. Authorities also received information that Head was involved in the homicide.
Authorities discovered Head concealed in a dog kennel, armed with a machete, expressing intentions of self-harm. He was apprehended by authorities. According to the victim’s daughter, she was present in the house when Head allegedly ignited her mother.
According to reports, she reported that the victim’s relationship with Head as tense and mentioned frequent arguments between him and her mother. According to the affidavit, she mentioned that upon returning home from work on Thursday, the air conditioning was set to a low temperature, resulting in a hot environment.
The daughter mentioned that Head and her mother frequently disagreed about the temperature of the home.
The police report states that the daughter informed them that Head ignited a piece of paper and threw it at his wife, resulting in a highly volatile situation. The daughter also suffered burns and managed to escape from the house.
After Miranda rights were read, the defendant reportedly confessed to setting his wife ablaze. The head expressed his frustration over his wife’s defense of her daughter during arguments, which had been ongoing since she moved in with them two years ago.
Following a heated dispute about the air conditioning, it is reported that he proceeded to exit the premises, fill a container with a flammable substance, and upon returning, ignited his spouse.
He mentioned that he had intended to end his life before the arrival of officers.
The individual is currently being held at the Levy County Jail without bond.
