Florida Deputy Shot Woman 11 Times after she Ran towards Deputy with Knife after Stabbing her Boyfriend several times in Seminole
Seminole, FL: Two victims were taken to the hospital after a stabbing turned-shooting incident that involved a deputy.
The authorities have revealed more details about the incident in which the deputy shot the assailant several times.
The incident happened at a residence in Pinellas County on Monday at 95th Avenue North, not far from Oakhurst Road according to St. Pete Police Chief Anthony Holloway.
His department will also be in charge of the investigation into the deputy-involved gunshots.
A deputy from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 14041 95th Avenue North in response to a report of an armed woman, according to authorities.
Amy Jaeger, a 44-year-old woman who had been in a relationship with a 70-year-old man for a year, stabbed him brutally, as cited by the authorities.
According to Holloway, Jaeger grabbed a knife and stabbed her boyfriend many times after the couple got into a disagreement at their house. The victim managed to escape from the house and asked neighbors for help.
The neighbor let the victim come inside as an attempt to save him from further attack. The neighbor then called 911.
When the deputy from Pinellas County finally arrived, he noticed the woman brandishing the knife. The deputy warned Jaeger to drop the knife, but all in vain.
Jaeger approached the deputy, as captured on video from both his body and the car’s cameras. She repeatedly responded with “No.” Additionally, she said, “Kill me now.”
The deputy shot her after she ignored all the warnings. The deputy shot more than 11 rounds at her.
The woman is still in serious condition, while the 70-year-old man’s health was reported stable at about 10 p.m. on Monday.
Christopher Ryan was named by authorities as the Pinellas County deputy who was shot. He has served for three years with PCSO.
Ryan has been placed on paid administrative leave following the incident, as is customary following shootings involving deputies, according to the sheriff’s office.
Jaeger has a prior conviction for driving under the influence, and Holloway mentioned that in November of last year, the police were sent to the residence for a domestic incident involving alcohol.
Jaeger is charged with an attempt to murder, armed aggravated assault on a police officer, and armed burglary of a residence are the charges against her.
Holloway stated that the Pinellas County Use of Deadly Force Investigative Task Force will not be pursuing charges against the officer following their investigation into the shooting as per FOX13.
