Florida Deputy Arrested for Alleged Assault against Two Women: Authorities

A Polk County deputy has resigned following his arrest for allegedly assaulting and making threats towards two women.

On July 3, the sheriff’s office received a tip from one of the victims, alleging that Deputy Anthony Martinez had caused her harm on multiple occasions.

Investigators have since discovered an additional female victim.

Authorities have revealed that a disturbing pattern of domestic violence has emerged, with at least six incidents involving the two victims. Instances of violence were reported, including forcefully closing a victim’s hand in a drawer, confining another victim for a significant period of time to prevent her from leaving her apartment and making menacing threats with firearms.

The sheriff’s office stated that Martinez was questioned regarding the allegations and acknowledged some of the actions while denying others.

A news release states that Martinez was arrested and promptly resigned upon his arrival at the processing center.

The sheriff’s office stated that Martinez had been a deputy for less than a year as reported by ClickOrlando News.

The individual is charged with multiple counts related to domestic violence, including battery, false imprisonment, negligence, aggravated assault, and improper exhibition of a firearm.
