Florida-based Energy Company To Set Up Plant In Mississippi; 400 New Jobs Expected In Chickasaw County

New Hampton, MS: A recently established solar farm in the state is expected to generate 200 construction jobs and significant revenue for a rural Mississippi county and its school system, according to officials.

NextEra Energy, a Florida-based renewable energies company, has selected Chickasaw County as the location for a new solar farm on County Road 245.

Russell Brooks, a Chickasaw County supervisor, announced the news on Wednesday. Brooks mentioned that the Okolona project’s construction is scheduled to begin in 2025.

Brook mentioned that the project has been in progress for five years and is expected to generate over $50 million in tax revenue to benefit the county and local school system.

Brooks stated that Chickasaw County has been chosen as a key location for NextEra’s upcoming solar farms.
