Fire Before New Year’s Eve Claimed 1 Life in Bronx

New York City: An evening building fire in the Bronx claimed one life and sent three others to the hospital, according to authorities.

Responding to a complaint at 8:17 p.m. on Saturday, firefighters found a fire at 1210 Elder Avenue in the Bronx’s Soundview neighborhood.

The fire was so strong that it sounded a level 2 alarm around 8:32 pm. The firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within an hour of reporting. The Fire Department reported.

The five-story home’s second floor caught fire, injuring six individuals. One person was sent to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in critical condition, according to the FDNY.

The fire claimed one life. The deceased individual is a woman who reportedly died at 7 am on Sunday.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
