Father Killed Son and Dumped Body at a Garbage Station in Georgia; Arrested and Indicted of Heinous Crime

A man is indicted for alleged murder of his 2-year-old son. The body was discovered at the East Point garbage station.

According to Artavious North, his son J’Asiah Mitchell was abducted in August in DeKalb County. After a thorough investigation, authorities concluded that there was no evidence of a kidnapping and subsequently apprehended North a few days later. Mitchell’s body was discovered by the police at a garbage facility.

Fulton County court documents reveal that North was indicted on multiple charges, including murder, felony murder, cruelty to children, concealing the death of another, and abandonment of a dead body.

The indictment alleges that North is responsible for inflicting severe physical harm on his son, resulting in his tragic demise. Furthermore, it states that North callously discarded and left the lifeless body of the 2-year-old in an exposed dumpster.

After several days of hard work, crews successfully drained a small lake near North’s apartment complex in their dedicated search for J’Asiah.

Authorities suspected that North disposed of the child’s body in a dumpster close to his residence. The body was accidentally transported to the nearby transfer station in East Point by garbage crews.

There are no upcoming hearings listed in the court records for North’s case.
