Father Hits Family of the Suspect who Stabbed his Son to Death
A hit-and-run incident in Downtown Rockville on Thursday afternoon left a 79-year-old woman and two young men injured. The alleged driver hit them and fled from the site of the accident.
Investigations revealed that the driver had targeted them intentionally. It is disclosed that the suspect, Walter Marquez-Avilez, targeted Jennifer Espinoza Orellana’s family.
Jose Zavala Marquez was fatally stabbed by Espinoza-Orellana. Jose was Walter’s son. Jennifer is accused of second-degree murder and is facing a trial in court for the same.
A warrant for Marquez-Avilez has been issued by Rockville City Police, who intend to prosecute him on three charges of attempted murder and first-degree assault.
According to sources, the 44-year-old Gaithersburg resident who fled the scene of a hit-and-run accident spotted the family of his son’s alleged killer after court on Thursday afternoon and decided to target them by hitting them with his SUV.
One of the three persons hit is believed to be the accused girlfriend’s brother, according to someone with direct knowledge of the matter.
Jennifer Espinoza-Orellana, then 21, stabbed her boyfriend, Jose Zavala Marquez, in September. Jose was 20 years old when he died.
Before the incident, Jennifer’s attorney argued in court for her release.
The incident happened at around 2:30 p.m. along East Montgomery Avenue, near the Montgomery County District Courthouse.
