Father Crashed the Car and then Fled the Scene after leaving 5-month-old Infant Fighting for life in Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA: A father was apprehended after attempting to flee the scene of a horrific incident that occurred early Sunday morning in Los Angeles County. The crash took his entire family, including a 5-month-old toddler, to the hospital, as reported by authorities to KTLA.

According to authorities, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were dispatched to the Hyde Park intersection of 52nd Street and Crenshaw Boulevard shortly before 2 a.m. in response to reports of multiple individuals injured in the accident.

The family’s dark-colored four-door sedan was severely damaged in what seems to be a head-on collision with a power pole near the area’s train tracks, as captured on video.

In addition, there was blood on the floor outside the passenger door.

The father, who was allegedly driving at the time of the accident, tried to flee the scene, leaving behind a woman and her 5-month-old child, who were both critically injured, as well as her 7-year-old child.

Both the mother and her 5-month-old infant were taken to the hospital in critical condition by medical personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department. The mother’s status was not immediately disclosed.

Authorities said the 7-year-old, who was also sent to the hospital, was expressing discomfort throughout his body.

The father, who was also seriously injured in the crash, was later detained; it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
