Family of 3 Perished after Fatal Crash in North Carolina; Drunk Driver Finally Arrested after a Month by Authorities

After a month since the devastating accident that claimed the lives of a family of three on Memorial Day, authorities have finally apprehended the driver responsible, who was allegedly under the influence at the time of the collision.

A 25-year-old man named Jordan Alexander Porter was taken into custody by the Garner Police Department on Friday, following his release from the hospital. The bond has been set at $3 million.

A man named Porter is facing multiple charges including second-degree murder, felony death by motor vehicle, maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, reckless driving, speeding, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, failure to stop for a red light, expired registration and inspection, and transporting an open container of alcohol after consuming.

In addition to the previous charge of driving while impaired, the individual now faces additional charges related to the fatal crash that occurred at US 70 Hwy and New Rand Road on May 27, resulting in the loss of three lives.

“The Garner Police Department is deeply saddened by the tragic events that took place on Monday, May 27, 2024, resulting in the loss of Tyler and Susan Campbell and their son, Miles. Responding to accidents with loss of life is always challenging for first responders, and this case has been incredibly heartbreaking due to the entire family, including a young child, being involved. We are grateful for the overwhelming support from our public safety partners and the Garner community as we continue our investigation. Please keep the Campbell family, our first responders, and the Garner community in your thoughts and prayers,” said Garner Police Chief Lorie Smith.

The individuals who passed away have been identified as Tyler Campbell, aged 28, his wife Susan Campbell, aged 29, and their son Miles Campbell, who was eight years old.

According to court documents cited by CBS17, Porter is scheduled to make an appearance in a Wake County courtroom at 9 a.m. on Monday.
