Ex-NFL Champion Arrested in North Carolina on Drug-related Charges

Charlotte, NC: Bashaud Breeland, a former NFL cornerback and Super Bowl Champion, has found himself back in custody in Mecklenburg County.

Breeland was taken into custody and placed in the Mecklenburg County jail on Sunday morning. He is currently facing a range of serious charges, including drug-related offenses, assault against a government official, and damage to personal property.

A 32-year-old individual named Bashaud Breeland was taken into custody on Saturday, as per court records. Breeland is currently facing multiple charges, including drug possession, resisting arrest, assaulting a public official, and injury to personal property.

North Carolina classifies certain substances as Schedule I Controlled Substances, including heroin, ecstasy, GHB, methaqualone, peyote, and opiates. Over-the-counter drugs are usually classified as Schedule V Controlled Substances.

All the possession-related charges are classified as felonies and carry a maximum prison sentence of 39 months.

Breeland was taken into custody in August in Charlotte. On August 9th, Breeland was stopped by CMPD officers in the parking lot of a gas station on North Graham Street. The car Breeland was driving had been reported stolen from Florida and was valued at $150,000.

During the search of the vehicle, law enforcement discovered several firearms, a significant amount of marijuana weighing over five pounds, as well as approximately $2,000 in cash and weighing scales.

Breeland had a successful career as a cornerback in the NFL, playing for multiple teams including the Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Minnesota Vikings. He was drafted out of Clemson and spent eight seasons in the league. Breeland emerged victorious in the Super Bowl during the 2019 season alongside the Chiefs.

In April 2020, Breeland faced several charges, such as open container and marijuana possession, leading to an arrest in York County.
