Drug Dealer Busted, Loaded Handgun Among the Confiscated Items

The Fentanyl and Overdose Crimes Units (VC FOCUS) of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department are working overtime as they collaborate with numerous regional law enforcement agencies to stem the tide of illicit drugs washing through their jurisdiction, as the shadow of death continues to spread across so many communities.

The predawn hours of November 9th brought fresh evidence of these efforts when Los Angeles County resident Albert Edklund, 41, was taken into custody. Sergeant John Hajducko, a spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, said that VC FOCUS detectives identified Eklund as a possible supplier of a variety of controlled substances and narcotics, using his home as his point of sale to customers throughout Ventura County.

Detectives executed a search warrant on Eklund’s home in response to “surveillance operations,” and they found “a loaded handgun, 82 grams of fentanyl, 137 grams of methamphetamine, 35 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of heroin, 1500 amphetamine pills, 70 counterfeit fentanyl pills, PCP lace cigarettes,” along with a large number of other medications.”

After being taken into custody, Eklund was brought to Ventura County Jail, where he was charged with a number of offenses, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, and possession of a controlled substance. His bail was set at $100,000.
