Driver High on Marijuana Slammed Car and Killed 3 in Tennessee; Victim’s Family Reeling with Grief as Pregnant Woman Lost Life and Baby

A tragic accident claimed the lives of two women and an unborn baby, according to authorities The accident happened in Knoxville.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a head-on crash on Friday evening, at an intersection.

As per court documents, a 20-year-old named Jonathon Jones was driving in the eastbound direction when he veered into the opposite westbound lane and collided with a Ford Expedition.

According to multiple witnesses, troopers reported that Jones was driving in a reckless manner, overtaking other vehicles on a double yellow line prior to the collision.

According to Rural Metro officials, a number of individuals were trapped and had to be rescued from the wreckage.

As per court documents, five individuals sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital as obtained by TheSunCoast News.

Authorities have confirmed that Casandra Jones, the sole passenger in Jonathon’s vehicle, tragically lost her life at the accident site, along with her unborn child.

According to authorities, the driver and two passengers in the other vehicle sustained injuries. Tragically, Virginia Brooks, one of the passengers, passed away at the hospital on Saturday morning.

During the conversation with Jones, the trooper noted that his eyes appeared bloodshot and watery. Additionally, he informed the trooper of his daily marijuana consumption.

Jones is facing serious charges including aggravated assault, improper passing, and vehicular homicide by intoxication.
