Deputy Shot Dead in Michigan after Stolen Car Driver Opened Fire; Family Devastated by Immense Loss

A Michigan sheriff’s deputy was tragically killed on Saturday night when the driver of a stolen car unexpectedly opened fire, without any warning, in a cowardly act.
Bradley Reckling, a dedicated officer with nine years of experience at the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office in Detroit, bravely took action when he noticed a suspicious vehicle. Tragically, his pursuit was cut short when the driver unexpectedly fled the scene.
“It was an ambush,” stated county Sheriff Michael Bouchard during a press briefing, as reported by the Detroit Free Press on Sunday. You can clearly observe the profound impact this has had on our people, evident in their expressions and eyes.
During his duty in the Detroit suburb of Madison Heights, Reckling, 30, noticed the 2022 Chevy Equinox that had been reported stolen earlier in the day. He promptly followed the vehicle while communicating with headquarters through the radio.

Upon entering the city, the criminals swiftly stopped their vehicle, swiftly exited, and proceeded to shoot at the police officer, causing fatal injuries to Reckling in the head and chest.
Oakland County Prosecuting Attorney Karen McDonald expressed her deep shock and sadness regarding Reckling’s passing in a statement released on Sunday as per The Post.
“Three suspects have been taken into custody and more details about that will be released later,” the sheriff’s office said in a post on Facebook on Sunday. “Deputy Reckling was a nine-year veteran and a much-beloved member of our team.
“He is survived by a loving wife and three beautiful girls, 5, 4 and 1, with one more child on the way,” the post said. “He was a friend and trusted partner to countless other members of our agency.”
