Miami Standard (Los Angeles, CA) – A highly perilous and damaging police chase took place on live television in south Los Angeles County Friday afternoon, featuring a driver in a white stolen pickup truck.
According to the L.A. Police Department, the pursuit started at approximately 2:40 p.m. in South Los Angeles.
The individual crashed into multiple cars and barely avoided striking pedestrians while evading law enforcement from the LAPD and California Highway Patrol across Whittier, Downey, Norwalk, and Lakewood, reaching speeds over 80 miles per hour at certain points.
In Long Beach, Sky5 captured footage of a frantic driver colliding with multiple vehicles before speeding through a red light at the intersection of E. 7th Street and Termino Avenue. A truck collided with two other vehicles before rolling into a parking lot adjacent to a Sherwin-Williams paint store.
The individual nonchalantly exited the vehicle and strolled down the street until multiple officers subdued him on the sidewalk in front of a residence.
A number of individuals were taken to the hospital, among them at least one unsuspecting motorist caught up in the last crash. The individual in question seemed to have sustained injuries as well.
The investigation into the crime scene and accident sites spanned the southern region of Los Angeles County, where approximately twelve unsuspecting drivers fell prey to the incidents.
All injuries seemed to be non-life-threatening.
