Dominic Cooper, aged 35, from Compton, passed away at the scene as per the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, citing his cause of death as “deferred.”
As per the Sheriff’s Information Bureau, the individual who informed authorities about the incident mentioned that the deceased individual was her partner. According to a sheriff’s official at the scene, the mauling is thought to have taken place around 7:30 or 8 p.m. on Thursday. Surveillance footage captured at least some of the attack. According to the investigator, the man seemed to have been feeding the dogs when a fight broke out among some of them, resulting in the attack.
Officials stated that Cooper was suspected of breeding the dogs at his residence. After the incident, the county Department of Animal Care and Control acquired the animals — five adults and eight puppies aged four to six months.
The dogs, previously transferred to the county by Cooper’s father, were brought to the Downey Animal Care Center for evaluation. County officials confirmed on Tuesday that the animals had been euthanized.
