Clio Man Asked Artificial Intelligence to make Photos of Children engaged in Inappropriate Acts; Arrested in Michigan
A man from Genesee County faces charges for reportedly utilizing Artificial Intelligence to produce child pornography.
Trevor Alan Klinert, 25, from Clio, is facing eight felony charges related to serious offenses, including four counts of child sexually abusive activity and four counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
According to Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson, Klinert is accused of using social media photos and processing them through AI generators to produce sexualized images. A conviction could lead to a life sentence.
Detective Sergeant Thomas Gladney of the Michigan State Police has grown more acquainted with cases similar to Klinert’s.
“Sadly, it didn’t surprise me,” he stated. “As technology advances, those who misuse it adapt in tandem.” They excel at utilizing it to fulfill their requirements.
He witnesses the dire consequences that arise when misguided individuals exploit Artificial Intelligence. As a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children taskforce, he investigates criminals who use AI to inflict harm on children.
“In the past, individuals would cut out faces and attach them to different images, and then with the advent of computers, they began cropping photos onto other pictures,” he shared with News 10. “Currently, they are leveraging AI to streamline that process.” Now, it appears just like reality.
Trevor Klinert is set to appear for a probable cause hearing on Oct. 3, with a bond amounting to $300,000.
