Cleveland Man Arrested after Accidental Overdose of a Woman with Toddler, Kid Starved to Death after Mother Died in Cleveland

Cleveland, OH: A man from Cleveland who has a lengthy crime sheet has been charged concerning the murders of a mother and her little son that occurred in December 2023. The man is identified as Tony Williams.

Charges against the man are:

  • Three counts of involuntary manslaughter.
  • Two counts of heroin trafficking.
  • One count of corrupting another with drugs.

The indictment states that the medications that killed Carson Morris, 19 months old, and Carliah Morris, 27 years old, were supplied by Williams.

Dec. 16 saw the discovery of the bodies of the mother and boy inside their apartment on East 114th Street.

Officers doing a welfare check were led to find their bodies by Carliah’s mother, who informed police that she had not seen her daughter since December 5.

Carson died of malnutrition and severe dehydration, while Carliah died of an accidental drug overdose, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office. Homicide was the official verdict in the toddler’s death.

Williams allegedly supplied drugs to Carliah’s mother, which led to her death, and investigators also suspect that Williams is directly responsible for Carson’s death.

The 26th of March saw Williams’ indictment. He is currently being jailed on $10,000 bond after pledging not guilty to the allegations.

According to Cuyahoga County court records, Williams has over twenty felony convictions, the majority of them pertain to drug trafficking and possession.

His arrest on December 9, 2023, was based on warrants that had been issued in 2022 for two distinct criminal offenses in which he had failed to appear in court.

After Williams posted the $2,500 personal bond that Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Brian Mooney had imposed, he was freed from jail on December 12.

Williams’ continued nonappearance at pretrial hearings led to the issuance of an additional arrest warrant for him on March 21.
