CHP: 1 Dead & 2 Injured in a Head-On Car Collison

A car collision took 1 life and 2 others are fighting for their lives in the hospital. The car crash happened on January 8, at around 8:30 a.m.
The fatal car accident occurred on Redrock Randsburg Road, west of Garlock Road.
A report of a head-on collision prompted the dispatch of California Highway Patrol officers from the Mojave region to the scene.
Later that afternoon, a CHP report that described the collision stated that Carolin Smith, 53, of California City, was driving a white 2021 Mercedes west on Redrock Randsburg Road when she struck a white 2021 Hyundai that was headed east.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 53-year-old Topeka, Kansas resident, passed away instantly. The passenger, a 49-year-old California City resident, was flown to Antelope Valley Hospital after suffering serious injuries.
Smith suffered serious injuries and was also sent to Antelope Valley Hospital. Preliminary investigation states that at this time, there is no suspicion that the driver’s impairment played a role in the crash.
