Child Sexual Assault and Drug Charges Lead to Arrest of Texas Resident

Nacogdoches, TX: A man from Nacogdoches who is suspected of sexually abusing a juvenile and possessing drugs remained being held in jail on Monday in lieu of a bail amount of $55,000.

Two counts of felony drug possession and one count of sexual assault of a child were brought against Joshua Scott Pannell, who is 33 years old. Pannell was taken into custody by the Nacogdoches police department on Friday.

According to Sergeant Brett Ayres, who serves as the spokesman for the police department, the investigation into Pannell started after the police got a report of probable criminal behavior toward Pannell.

The statement made by Ayres was that “there was an outcry made to us, and we immediately began to investigate.” The criminal investigation section started actively looking for evidence that may be considered likely. When it was determined that this was the case, a warrant was issued, and the individual was taken into custody.

An incidental allegation of felony drug possession was brought about as a result of the inquiry into sexual assault, according to Ayres as reported by Daily Sentinal.

The inquiry into the sexual assault led to the development of probable cause for the possession of drugs, according to Ayres, who stated that the probe was ongoing.

A felony of the second degree, sexual assault of a child is penalized by a maximum sentence of twenty years in prison and a maximum fine of ten thousand dollars.

If you are found guilty of possessing drugs in the first degree, you might face a maximum sentence of life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
