California Authorities Bust Assualt Rifles Trafficking to Arizona; Driver Arrested after Suspected Gang Activity

Authorities in the Coachella Valley have confiscated a significant number of firearms, including assault rifles and handguns, that were reportedly being transported into California from Arizona. The individual responsible for the trafficking was accompanied by his 17-year-old brother, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Brothers driving a Honda CRV were intercepted by U.S. Border Patrol agents at the California-Arizona border. The vehicle they were in was found to be carrying over two dozen firearms, which authorities believe were obtained in Phoenix, Arizona. Officials discovered a stash of rifles and magazines concealed in the rear of the vehicle.

A 25-year-old man from Calexico, Jose Palma Almendarez, has been arrested and booked into Blythe Jail on suspicion of multiple weapon-related charges. The arrest was made after investigators from the Coachella Valley gang unit responded to the scene.
The authorities have decided to release the 17-year-old brother to his parents.
