Bay Area Sideshow Sweep, Police Impounded Several Cars, Cars Obstruct Roads in San Francisco, Oakland and Pittsburg
San Francisco, CA: The authorities in California are cracking down on sideshows. This illegal activity has now become common in many cities in California.
Last weekend, one woman was hurt during one of the sideshows that blocked the Bay Bridge.
On Saturday night and Sunday morning, authorities said up to six illegal sideshows were held at various Bay Area crossroads. One of these allegedly caused a woman’s injury, while another had screeching automobiles and crowd obstructing traffic on the Bay Bridge.
Crowds flocked to Menlo Park and Mountain View at approximately 11 p.m. to witness automobiles performing high-speed doughnuts, according to the police. Tragically, a 20-year-old woman from Pittsburg was injured after being struck by a car.
Around 2 a.m., officers from the Oakland Police Department went to a complaint of another sideshow near 42nd Avenue and International Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered dozens of onlookers and nearly a hundred vehicles.
In the minutes following, at approximately 2:45 in the am, police were dispatched to another sideshow along Park Boulevard and Park Boulevard Way, close to Interstate 580. Upon arrival, the performers disbanded, according to the authorities.
Approximately one hundred cars were obstructing the westbound lanes of the Bay Bridge, east of Treasure Island, according to CHP Officer Mark Andrews, who announced at 3:15 a.m.
Hundreds of spectators let off fireworks from the bridge as they watched fast-moving automobiles swirl in a circle, as shown in a video shared on X.
According to the California Highway Patrol, two cars were hauled away and four individuals were taken into custody; two minors were implicated in the incident, which caused a 20-minute traffic jam.
According to a social media post, there was purported pop-up sideshow activity near Jackson and Divisadero streets in San Francisco’s Lower Pacific Heights district. However, the San Francisco police were unable to corroborate the event.
