Authorities Identified Toddler Found Dead on a Bus Bench in LA
Los Angeles, California: The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner recognized a 1-year-old girl who passed away close to Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday.
In response to a report of a “medical emergency,” officers were dispatched to the intersection of Sepulveda and West Century boulevards on Friday at approximately 10:10 a.m., as per the department.
The deceased girl is identified as Yayra Estelle Rutherford. Authorities stated that the task of investigating this fatality is handed over to the LAPD’s Abused Child Unit.
As stated by the county medical examiner, Rutherford was discovered on a bus bench. She was homeless, as was her sibling and mother.
Police questioned the mother of the deceased child. The second little child, who is around a 2-year-old boy, was placed in the care of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
The mother told the police that she never asked for help because she was under the impression that her children would be taken away from her under the pretext of help.
Investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances related to the death. The authorities urge people to come forward and contact the police if they have any information regarding the incident.
