Aunt Sexually Assaulted Nephews and Niece; Kept them Tied and Starved them for Days in Arizona; Kids Escaped and asked Neighbors for Help
A woman has been arrested for the abduction and mistreatment of her niece and nephews in Phoenix. Sarah Canez, 33, is facing charges for allegedly committing multiple counts of child abuse. Authorities report that she allegedly restrained the children using zip ties and subjected them to acts of sexual abuse.
The children made a swift getaway in the wee hour of yesterday morning. These children had tragically lost their mother and were now under the care of their aunt.
The individual entrusted with their safety turned out to be the one who made death threats against them.
Three children, aged 16, 10, and 7, managed to flee from their aunt’s care and sought refuge at a neighbor’s residence in the early hours of June 17th, in the vicinity of Indian School Road and Interstate 17.
Amidst the distressing cries of a 16-year-old girl, a concerned neighbor observed signs of physical harm on two young boys as per FOX10 Phoenix.
During a search warrant at Canez’s apartment, law enforcement discovered a variety of concerning items, including a handgun, tasers, zipties, a knife, plastic bags, and wooden objects. These items were reportedly mentioned by the children when they described the alleged abuse by Canez. There were reports of sexual abuse among the incidents.
A 16-year-old girl informed her neighbors that she was motivated to escape by her mother’s voice.
Canez was taken into custody and expressed her inability to continue caring for the children, stating that she was unable to cope with the situation.
Canez faces multiple charges including child abuse, kidnapping, and aggravated assault. She is currently being held on a bond amounting to $250,000.
