Atlanta E-Bike Rebate Program Launched for Low and Moderate-Income City Dwellers

Atlanta E-Bike Rebate Program Launched for Low and Moderate-Income City Dwellers

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) and the City of Atlanta have introduced a new e-bike rebate program that aims to provide affordable transportation options for residents with moderate and low incomes.

E-bikes are equipped with small, rechargeable electric motors that provide assistance to riders while they pedal. These bikes can travel a distance of 20 to 50 miles per charge.

No special license or registration is required for these bikes. E-cargo bikes, with their extended frames, are specifically designed to carry additional passengers or cargo.

ARC is managing the program with a strong focus on equity, thanks to a $1 million investment from the city. The majority of the rebates are set aside for individuals who earn 80 percent or less of the median household income in the Atlanta region. This income threshold begins at $60,200 for a single person.

Residents of Atlanta have until Sunday, June 23rd, to submit their applications for a lottery that offers the chance to win e-bike rebates of up to $2,000. You can submit your applications at atlantaregional.org/ebikerebate.

If your household income falls within the specified range, you may be eligible for a rebate of $1,500 on a standard e-bike or $2,000 on a cargo e-bike. If your income exceeds the specified threshold, you have the opportunity to receive a $500 rebate for a standard e-bike or $1,000 for a cargo e-bike.

Residents who meet the requirements have the opportunity to receive $1,500 for a standard e-bike or $2,000 for a cargo e-bike. Those who do not meet the eligibility criteria can still receive $500 for a standard e-bike or $1,000 for a cargo e-bike.

Rebates will be distributed on a quarterly basis and can be redeemed at various participating retailers in Atlanta as revealed by Marca.

There is expected to be a high demand for the program, as approximately 6,000 individuals have already shown interest. The program plans to provide a maximum of 700 e-bike rebates throughout its duration.
