Armed Robbers Shot Groom in Head during Backyard Wedding Ceremony in Missouri; Family Reeling with Grief as Victim still Fighting for Life

A groom in Missouri is currently in critical condition after being shot by armed robbers during his backyard wedding ceremony.

During the early hours of June 29, Manuel and Dulce Gonzalez’s wedding celebration took a terrifying turn when two masked gunmen unexpectedly infiltrated their intimate party at their residence in St. Louis, Missouri.

“As one of the men was going through peoples’ pockets, the armed man stood behind the victim, a 42-year-old Hispanic man, with the guns pointed at the man,” St. Louis police said in a press release.

Manuel was tragically shot in the head and is currently in critical condition, as stated on a GoFundMe page created for his family. The article mentions that the couple’s two young children were also present, but it does not provide any information about their well-being.

“He’s a good father. A good husband to my sister. He’s a hard worker,” Yaribeth Peña, the bride’s sister, told Fox2. “He’s just an all-around good person that, I don’t know, he didn’t deserve this.”

Peña believes that the gunmen shot her brother-in-law when he reached for his wallet, possibly mistaking it for a weapon, as reported by PEOPLE.

The suspects reportedly made a quick getaway on foot, according to the police. According to family members, the gunmen departed without stealing any valuable items.

The investigation is still ongoing and there have been no arrests made, according to the police.
