16-year-old Zakyh Samuel from Washington D.C. has been indicted on 16 charges, which include armed carjacking, armed robbery, and assault with intent to rob while armed. The indictment, revealed by U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and MPD Chief Pamela Smith, highlights the gravity of the crime spree that occurred on August 24, 2023.

As detailed in the indictment, Samuel and his accomplices utilized a stolen burgundy Jeep Grand Cherokee to carry out their criminal activities. They operated in the District during the late night and early morning hours, specifically between 1:30 a.m. and 5:15 a.m.

Samuel was indicted after a thorough investigation that included DNA evidence and surveillance footage, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

Samuel, who was arraigned the day after the indictment was made public, could potentially face a lengthy prison sentence if found guilty.
