Arkansas State Police Confiscate a Significant Amount of Illegal Drugs Huge Money from Arkansas Highways

Little Rock, AR: Arkansas achieved significant success in combating illegal drug trafficking on its highways. Arkansas State Police witnessed a significant increase in the number of illegal drug seizures resulting from traffic stops in 2023, surpassing previous years.

A total of 138 significant seizures were recorded in 2023. Arkansas State Police troopers confiscated over 11,000 pounds of illicit drugs and a staggering $1.4 million from the state’s highways.

In 2023, there was a significant surge in the amount of cocaine seizures, resulting in the confiscation of a total of 353 pounds. The confiscated cocaine has a street value exceeding $15 million. The number of seizures has seen a significant surge, with a 146% increase compared to the previous year.

In 2022, ASP seized 143.35 pounds of cocaine. In December of 2023, there was a significant seizure of illegal marijuana. The amount of fentanyl seized in 2022 decreased, but remained significant, with 65 pounds compared to 46 pounds in 2023.

In 2023, authorities confiscated a variety of illegal drugs, such as psilocybin mushrooms, 1 pound of black tar heroin, 420 bottles of promethazine, and 56 pounds of methamphetamine. ASP has seized a range of pharmaceutical drugs, such as Xanax, Hydrocodone, and Ketamine, as well as 21 illegal weapons during previous traffic stops.

Drugs confiscated by authorities are sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for analysis and subsequently stored throughout the prosecution process. Once the cases are resolved, the drugs are transported to an incinerator for proper disposal.
