Apply for EEB and get a Supplemental Grant for Seismic Retrofitting for your Residence in California
San Diego, CA: California was recently shaken by earthquakes. It can pose serious damage to life and property. A program in California has started that provides grants to residents for seismic retrofitting in their properties.
EBB online registration is already open and will stay open until February 21, 2024. The EEB, Earthquake Brace + Bolt offers incentives of up to $3,000 toward seismic retrofitting for qualifying properties.
The program is now open in 815 California ZIP Codes, representing the largest increase since EBB began.
This year, EBB will again provide an additional supplemental grant (SG) to income-eligible homeowners. If the household’s yearly income is $87,360 or less, homeowners may be eligible for an SG, covering up to 100% of the seismic retrofit.
Every program year, new areas are included based on the two equally weighted criteria listed below:
- Earthquake Hazard: The earthquake hazard map for California that was created by the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
- Earthquake Vulnerability: Vulnerability is measured by the percentage of pre-1940 dwellings in California ZIP codes (US Census Data). Older homes are more likely to need earthquake bracing and fastening.
