An Ohio Lady With HIV Has Charged With Solicitation, and More Than 200 People Were Asked to Get Tested
Columbus, Ohio’s Washington County — An HIV-positive woman who had sexual contact with more than 200 people in different states was indicted by a grand jury in Ohio on Tuesday, according to officials.
Following the results of a positive HIV test, the woman was charged with engaging in solicitation, as stated in a press statement issued by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
A positive test was administered to the woman in 2022, according to the press release, and authorities are currently reaching out to those who may have had sexual contact with the body of the woman.
According to the statement, “This is not a scam but rather an announcement regarding public health.” The folks in question are not in any danger. The officers will direct the individuals to the health departments in their respective communities so that they can undergo HIV test and/or treatment.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), HIV symptoms may resemble those of the flu within two to four weeks after infection and may continue for weeks. As a result of the absence of symptoms in some situations, testing is necessary in order to identify the virus.
