Miami-Dade, Florida- A man with a troubling criminal history has been apprehended for reportedly stalking a young girl at a Home Depot in Miami-Dade.
A 58-year-old man named Kevin S. Hurley was taken into custody on Tuesday for the alleged crime of aggravated stalking of a minor, according to records from the Miami-Dade jail.
Hurley’s status as a registered sex offender is documented in records from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. According to records from the Florida Department of Corrections, he was sentenced to five years in prison in 2014 for committing lewd and lascivious sexual battery on a child and lewd and lascivious molestation on a child. However, he was released in 2017.
As per the conditions of his probation, he is currently being monitored via GPS and is prohibited from having unsupervised contact with minors, as stated in an arrest report.
An incident of alleged stalking occurred on July 4 at the Home Depot on Southwest 106th Avenue, where the 10-year-old was with her mother.
According to the report, the mother stated that they were at a counter when Hurley approached and began conversing with the girl.
“I love your Mickey ears, and I think you are too big to be in that shopping cart,” he remarked, as per the report.
According to a report, the girl felt uneasy and took off her Mickey ears while Hurley finished a transaction. He then resumed talking to the girl, complimenting her by saying “I think you are so beautiful.”
