Alabama Teacher Arrested after Police Investigate the Rumor of Sleeping with the Student Spread
A substitute teacher in DeKalb County is now facing additional charges after being indicted by a grand jury. The teacher was previously accused in February of engaging in a sex act with a student.
A woman named Stephanie Mechelle Woods, aged 45, from Henagar, was taken into custody on February 9 following a complaint received by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office regarding a substitute teacher’s alleged inappropriate contact with a student.
A charge has been filed against her for allegedly engaging in a prohibited act with a student under 19 years old while working as a school employee.
According to court records, Woods was indicted in April by a DeKalb County Grand Jury on the following charges:
Charged with three counts of engaging in inappropriate behavior with a student under 19
Charges filed against a school employee for distributing or soliciting obscene material to or from a student
The indictment also mentions that the victim is 17 years old.
According to records from DeKalb County Jail, Woods was booked once again on Thursday afternoon, only to be released approximately 20 minutes later.
