A Monroe County Sheriff’s Office detention deputy was arrested Friday on felony counts of official misconduct and perjury for producing false timesheet entries and lying during an Internal Affairs investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Anthony Paniagua, a detention officer since 2015, is charged with one felony count each of fraud-false statement and perjury, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The accusations derive from false entries he made in Sheriff’s Office records about his timesheet, as well as subsequent false claims during an official inquiry, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office said Paniagua has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending a pre-termination hearing.
