A person who entered the country unlawfully and has a significant criminal history was sent back from the US for the 40th time during a recent immigration operation in Texas under the previous administration.
A 36-year-old Mexican national, Julian Estrada-Garcia, was removed from the United States by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, part of a larger operation that targeted 173 undocumented migrants in Houston over a two-week period last month.
The regular traveler was once more sent back to Mexico from Texas.
During their time in the US, Estrada-Garcia was involved in multiple offences, such as operating a vehicle under the influence, having illegal substances, and engaging in fraudulent activities, as reported by ICE.
He faced convictions for unlawfully entering the US on four separate occasions.
“This is just a small snapshot of the amazing work that the brave men and women at ICE do every day to enhance public safety in Southeast Texas,” ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Houston field office director Bret Bradford said in a statement shared with The Post.
“ICE will continue to aggressively pursue and remove anyone who threatens the safety of our communities and the national security of our country,” he added.
Estrada-Garcia was among numerous undocumented individuals caught in the Houston operation, having faced deportation an astonishing number of times.
A 48-year-old Mexican national, who had been removed from the US 13 times and had 25 criminal convictions, was also deported by ICE, along with a 50-year-old member of the Florencia 13 gang, known for a significant criminal history.
Since the inauguration on January 20, the administration’s extensive deportation initiative has led to 113,000 arrests and over 100,000 deportations.
ICE has reached its full detention capacity, and officials from the Trump administration are urging Congress to allocate more funds for additional bed space to sustain the initiative.
