T.W. Garner Food Company has issued a recall for two flavors of its Texas Pete hot sauces due to ingredient mislabeling, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced. The recall affects select lots of Texas Pete Habanero Buffalo Sauce and Texas Pete Sweet CHAbanero Sauce, which were distributed in several states.
The Habanero Buffalo Sauce recall was prompted by bottles potentially containing sriracha sauce, which includes sulfites—a known allergen. Consumers with sulfite allergies could experience severe or life-threatening reactions if they consume the mislabeled product, the FDA warned.
Additionally, the company is recalling Sweet CHAbanero Sauce because some bottles are missing a key ingredient—aged peppers—which typically include red habanero peppers, salt, and vinegar.
