An Indiana teenager, just 19 years old, faces serious allegations after reportedly rapping on YouTube and sharing on social media about the murder of a man.
Authorities claim he made chilling statements such as “head shot” and “I gotta finish the beef they started.”
Cameron Kizer Jr., currently serving time for battery in an unrelated case, faced new charges on Monday, this time for murder linked to the shooting death of 20-year-old Jathen Maxwell in July 2024, as reported by online court documents and the Fort Wayne Police Department.
A relative of the victim reported the incident around midnight on July 25 in the 3900 block of Warsaw Street in Fort Wayne, where Maxwell sustained gunshot wounds to the head and hip, according to police.
Kizer’s legal filings, acquired by the local CBS station WANE, allege that he boasted about the shooting in his rap lyrics on YouTube and various social media channels.
“I gotta finish the beef they started. You get a low on bro then call me,” Kizer rapped, as reported by WANE. A woman accused of assisting Kizer in the Maxwell shooting informed authorities that Kizer had intentions to “set up” Maxwell for a robbery and had been threatening him “for a while.”
“The Fort Wayne Police Department’s Homicide Unit has been diligently investigating the homicide and with the assistance of the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office,” FWPD officials said in a Tuesday press release. “Kizer is currently confined in the Indiana Department of Corrections — Westville Correctional Facility on an unrelated battery conviction.”
In the aftermath of Maxwell’s tragic death, authorities allegedly discovered more than twenty 9-millimeter shell casings scattered at the location. Authorities were informed by witnesses that Kizer had been making threats on social media for an extended period, although the reasons remain uncertain.
Reports indicate that he purportedly uploaded his YouTube rap video mere hours following the shooting incident.
Kizer faces charges not only for murder but also for allegedly soliciting friends to procure a stolen vehicle for use in the crime. The timeline for his next court appearance remains uncertain.
