A two-year sentence in state jail was also handed down for invasive visual recording.
Cory Grado, 23, has been convicted of sexual assault and invasive visual recording, as reported by the Hays County District Attorney’s Office. The trial revealed that Grado had recorded himself committing a sexual assault against a victim.
During a search of his phone by San Marcos police officers, a multitude of images and videos depicting sexual assault were discovered. Images depicting the victim’s private regions were also discovered.
Witnesses provided their accounts, including the victim, her boyfriend, and her mother.
Grado received a 17-year prison sentence for sexual assault, along with an additional two years in state jail for invasive visual recording.
“We asked the jury to send a message that these crimes are not tolerated in our community, and that is what they have done with their verdict. We want to thank the jurors for their service, especially since they had to review very disturbing evidence. We also want to thank the victim in this case for her bravery and for having the strength to face the defendant in court,” said Assistant Criminal District Attorney Elizabeth Schmidt.
