TAMPA, Florida — The National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm warning for areas of the Gulf Coast, while a Tropical Depression Two advisory is in effect.
The Mexican government issued a tropical storm warning for the Gulf Coast from Boca de Catan southward to Tecolutla at 4 p.m. on Saturday, indicating that storms are expected within the next 36 hours.
As Tropical Depression Two moves west-northwest, forecasters have found its center near the Bay of Campeche. It is forecast to continue moving for the following day or two, making landfall on the Mexican coast Sunday night and migrating farther inland on Monday.
Maximum winds are around 30 mph, with stronger gusts. The depression is predicted to intensify over the next day or so, eventually becoming a tropical storm before approaching the Mexican shore.
Rainfall in Veracruz, San Luis Potosí, and Tamaulipas may range from 3 to 6 inches, with a maximum of 10 inches. There is a possibility of flash and urban flooding.
