As Los Angeles became a violent battleground against President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plan, Homeland Security stated that it was still removing the most dangerous criminal illegal migrants from the streets to keep law-abiding people safe.
Homeland Security has revealed criminal records and mugshots for more than 20 illegal migrants captured recently. The suspects have been charged with heinous offenses such as murder, pedophilia, fentanyl trafficking, sexual assault, and armed robbery, according to the agency.
The arrests occurred earlier this month during a brawl in the city by anti-ICE protestors. In the violent and brutal scenes, rioters attacked police enforcement with rocks and Molotov cocktails, while others burnt cars and other property. Some of the agitators brandished foreign flags while they committed their acts.
Some of those arrested for deportation include Mexican national Cesar Zetina-Michua, who was convicted of attempted murder after illegally entering the United States, and Cuban national Daniel Ofarril, who was arrested for murder, armed robbery, and drug trafficking, including a conviction for possessing crack cocaine with the intent to sell.
Oscar Juventino Ardon Landaverde, an alleged Salvadorian MS-13 gang member who is on the Terrorist Screening Dataset and has reentered the United States several times, was also apprehended, as were other cocaine and fentanyl traffickers.
Agents also arrested several convicted sex offenders, including Efran Omar Rosales-Serrano, who attempted to molest a kid under the age of 12, and Juan Diego Euan, who was convicted of sexually penetrating a minor under the age of 16.
Others include predators who have been convicted of sexual offenses against minors or debilitated victims.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin criticized anyone who attempted to obstruct immigration authorities conducting lawful immigration enforcement.
“Under the Trump administration, 70% of illegal aliens arrested have been convicted or charged with a crime beyond illegally entering our country,” Mr. McLaughlin added.
“As bad-faith politicians attempt to demean and vilify our brave law enforcement, we will only double down and ramp up our enforcement actions against the worst of the worst criminals.”
Large-scale immigration sweeps carried out by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement triggered widespread protests, which became violent.
Despite opposition from Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom, President Trump ordered the state’s National Guard and approximately 700 Marines to help quiet the rioting.
Hung Nguyen of Vietnam, who has been convicted of 22 offenses, including indecent exposure, theft, and domestic violence, and Cristian Vasco-Echeverry of Colombia, who has a history of drug trafficking and has served more than ten years in a Colombian prison, were also apprehended in recent operations.
