Security camera videos show the lady accused of getting past airport security and boarding a Delta Air Lines jet going to France.
Svetlana Dali boarded Delta Flight 264 from New York’s JFK International Airport to Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport on November 26 without a ticket, prosecutors allege.
In one of the videos obtained by CNN from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport, Dali can be seen passing through the security checkpoint’s body scanner and receiving a pat down while dressed in a tan shirt over a grey sweatshirt and trousers.
Dali initially avoided an airport employee in charge of a crewmember screening and stations where her ID and boarding pass would have been examined, a Transportation Security Administration spokesperson told CNN.
At the gate, she positioned herself in the middle of what appeared to be a family traveling together.
The second video shows Dali, now dressed in a jacket and rucksack with a grey hoodie pulled over her head, accompanying the group of travelers to the jet bridge.
At the time of the occurrence, Delta Air Lines stated that “deviation from standard procedures is the root cause of this event.”
Dali was returned to the United States and detained, but he was released shortly after being charged. According to prosecutors, she attempted to travel to Canada in December after cutting off her ankle monitor. She was arrested again and has been incarcerated in New York ever since.
Dali appeared in Brooklyn Federal Court earlier Tuesday, where her trial was set to begin on May 19 with jury selection, but the court also noted that parties could “continue to try to come to a resolution” before then.
She’s pled not guilty.
