8-Year-Old Shot In Car, Shooter Arrested in Oklahoma City

While out admiring Christmas lights with his mother, who was also delivering food for DoorDash, the 8-year-old child was shot in the head.

The incident happened at about 90 miles southwest of Oklahoma City in Lawton, Oklahoma.

In a GoFundMe page, Nichole Groshong stated that on December 10, at approximately 8 p.m., she, her kids Zack and Waylon, and her mother-in-law were in the 900 block of SW 35th Street when she stopped and shifted the car into reverse to give them a better look at some additional lights.

Then gunfire broke out. Following the incident, Jullian Phillips, 30, was taken into custody by the police. It seems to be a case of mistaken identity, and Phillips has no connection to the victim’s family.

Phillips was accused by prosecutors on Monday of shooting with the intent to kill. A $500,000 bond keeps Phillips detained in the Comanche County Jail. His court date is set for January 22.

According to Groshong, her son had a cerebral clot and a fractured skull. He can’t sit up by himself and struggles with processing information, but he can speak and is generally making improvements.
