8-Year-Old Run Over in Cleveland; Community Enraged after Driver Fled after Accident

Cleveland, TN – Authorities in Cleveland are searching for a driver who struck an 8-year-old child and fled the scene Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. in front of a home on the 700 block of Berry Street NE. Witnesses told police that children were playing soccer in the front yard and on the road when an unknown vehicle ran over the child before speeding off south on Berry Street toward 6th Street NE.

Cleveland Police have not yet released details about the child’s condition. They are urging anyone with information about the incident, the driver, or the vehicle involved to come forward.
