60 Minor Girls Fell Victim to Sextortion Scheme across Texas, Penn., Oklahoma; Minnesota Man Confessed Atrocities that Left Victims Devastated

A Winona man has admitted to his involvement in an online sextortion scheme that targeted over 60 underage girls in various locations, both in the United States and abroad. This announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger.

Court documents reveal that Valentin Silva Quintana, 30, allegedly utilized popular social media platforms such as Snapchat and Instagram to engage in disturbing behavior.

Over a span of approximately 14 months, from April 2022 to June 2023, Quintana is accused of threatening, sexually manipulating, and exploiting over 60 young girls, primarily aged between 9 and 12 years old. The victims were located in various regions, including Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, New Zealand, and other undisclosed locations.

Quintana was aware of the age range of the girls, which was typically between 9 and 12 years old. To deceive them, he employed fake identities and misrepresented his own age, pretending to be a minor girl. He utilized images and videos of young-looking girls to enhance the credibility of his interactions with other victims.

Court documents reveal that Quintana employed various tactics to manipulate his victims, often by deceiving young girls into believing he was their friend or romantic partner, or by enticing them with money.

However, on numerous occasions, he manipulated young girls into sharing explicit photos or videos, or secretly recorded them engaging in sexual activities. He would then use these materials to blackmail the girls, threatening to expose the initial image to their loved ones unless they provided even more explicit content.

He persisted in this form of extortion despite the pleas and tears of his victims.

Quintana has admitted guilt today in U.S. District Court before Judge Jerry W. Blackwell for engaging in the production, distribution, and possession of child pornography.
