6-Year-Old Rescued, Sister Found Dead in Mississippi; Were Kidnapped from Louisiana Home; Suspect Arrested by Authorities
Tragedy struck when a young girl lost her life, while her sister was fortunately rescued from a distressing situation involving small animal cages. Authorities in Mississippi suspect a possible connection to human trafficking.
A horrifying incident unfolded in Jackson on Thursday, following the tragic discovery of the girls’ mother, 35-year-old Callie Burnett, who was found brutally murdered 130 miles away in southern Louisiana just a day prior.
Daniel Callihan is the prime suspect in the case.
6-year-old Jalie Brunett was found alive inside a car in a wooded area in Jackson on Thursday. According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, Erin’s lifeless body was found just a few yards from where she was last seen.
Joseph Wade of the Jackson Police Department stated during a press conference that the crime scene suggests the possibility of human trafficking. “There are cages, small animal cages.”
Julie was transported to a local hospital to receive medical attention for her minor injuries.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Erin’s death. Authorities say that Callahan was led to the girls by a bystander who found his behavior suspicious.
The girls’ mother, Burnett, was discovered deceased in her bedroom after being missing for more than 24 hours, according to authorities. The nature of her death was described as brutal.
According to the authorities, the children were not present at the scene when the body was found, despite their father’s report of them being missing. According to the Louisiana State Police, the children were abducted prior to 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
An amber alert was issued in the afternoon, stating that a man was being sought for questioning in connection with a domestic violence incident that tragically led to Burnett’s death.
According to officials, law enforcement has not yet had the chance to interview Callahan as reported by The Post.
