5-Masked Men Attacked Students at Graduation Ceremony in New York; Authorities Launch Probe after 2 Slashed resulting in Injuries

During a high school graduation ceremony in New York, a disturbing incident occurred where two individuals were injured. The victims were attacked by a group of five masked men, resulting in one person being slashed in the ear and another in the leg. School officials have reported the incident.

An incident took place outside a sports complex at Hofstra University on Long Island while graduates from Hempstead and Uniondale high schools were leaving the facility with their families, according to a statement released on behalf of the schools.

A person who was slashed in the leg is being referred to as a guest of a student. According to the statement, the student bravely stepped in and unfortunately suffered a slash to the ear.

Both individuals were transported to a medical facility. Their conditions were not immediately known.

Authorities in Nassau County have confirmed that they received a report of a potential assault at the Hofstra campus in the late afternoon. It remains uncertain if any individuals have been apprehended.

The statement from the schools indicated that the attack is thought to be connected to a domestic dispute. Additionally, it was mentioned that all individuals who attended the ceremony had gone through magnetometers as per NBC News.

The statement emphasized that the incident occurred outside of the graduation venue. “Our security team is working closely with the Nassau County Police and Hofstra Public Safety officers.”

Hofstra University assures that the campus is secure and has directed further inquiries to the police.
