4-Year-Old U.S. Hostage Freed By Hamas, Biden Gave Confirmation.
Abigail Mor Edan was freed by Hamas as per the 4-day hostage release ceasefire truce. Abigail is now in Israel safe and sound and turned 4 while held hostage.
President Biden on 26 November 2023 confirmed the release when speaking to reporters in Nantucket. He also hoped for more hostages to be released safe and sound.
Abigail’s parents were killed and she was taken hostage. Edan has dual Israeli-US citizenship. Many more US citizens are held captive by Hamas.
She was among the 17 other hostages who were released on the third day of the ceasefire truce. Her two elder brothers survived when their parents were killed.
39 Palestinians detained in Israel were exchanged for the release of two dozen hostages from Gaza on Friday. The hostages included thirteen Israelis, ten Thai nationals, and one Filipino citizen.
As part of the agreement, 150 Palestinians detained in Israeli jails are expected to be released by the end of the agreement, if Hamas releases at least 50 hostages. Israel declared that for every ten more hostages freed, it would consent to an additional day of the ceasefire.
The U.S., Qatar, Egypt, and Israel mediated the temporary cease-fire agreement, which is scheduled to expire on Monday.
As per the agreement, hundreds of aid trucks loaded with food, fuel, medical supplies, and water have also reached Gaza.
