35-Year-Old in Custody After Police Found Him High On Meth with 2 Kids

A Fairmont man has been taken into custody by police after he was found under the influence of meth while taking care of two children.

According to court records, on December 26, cops were called to conduct a well-being check following complaints that Jeffrey Hibbs, 35, was acting erratic, sweating a lot, and acting aggressively.

The police were informed by another individual who talked to Hibbs on a FaceTime call. The individual noticed the strange behavior and immediately informed the police.

The complaint read, “His speech was slurred, he was exhibiting erratic, uncontrolled movements, he was excited and he was unable to remain on topic while speaking.”

The police conducted the well-being check and when they arrived they found the allegations to be true. According to the police, his actions were compatible with using methamphetamine.

Hibbs acknowledged sniffing meth before picking up his kids, per the criminal complaint, and he also failed a sobriety test.

Hibbs is being jailed at North Central Regional Jail after being charged with two counts of child maltreatment causing injury.
