3-year-old Shot after Mother was Shot Straight in Head by Father in Michigan as Heated Argument turned into Violent Scuffle
A tragic incident in Detroit involves the alleged killing of a 19-year-old girlfriend and the shooting of their 3-year-old son.
Authorities in Detroit responded to a call at 6:44 a.m. on May 30, 2024, in the vicinity of Whitcomb and Tireman Avenue on the west side of the city.
Authorities reported that a dispute arose between Virgil Dan Brown, a 22-year-old resident of Detroit, and his girlfriend, Jevon Miller, aged 19. According to officials, he used a handgun to fatally shoot Miller in the head.
Brown is facing allegations of shooting their 3-year-old son in the neck.
Medical officials arrived and declared Miller deceased, then quickly transported the child to a nearby hospital. According to prosecutors, he is still undergoing treatment.
Brown has been taken into custody and is facing serious charges including first-degree murder, assault with intent to murder, second-degree child abuse, carrying a concealed weapon, and three felony firearm violations.
He was brought before the court on Sunday, June 2, at the 36th District Court and subsequently sent to jail.
There is a probable cause conference set for 8:30 a.m. on June 10, followed by a preliminary examination at 1:45 p.m. on June 17.
