3 Suspects Jumped from Bridge into Water after Hot Police Chase; One Dead, One Captured by K9 and One Still on Run: Florida Authorities
After a drive-by shooting and a police chase, three suspects and a sheriff’s office K-9 made a daring jump from an Escambia County bridge on Monday evening.
Sheriff Chip Simmons announced on Tuesday morning that one of the suspects tragically passed away due to injuries sustained from jumping off the bridge.
A second suspect, 19-year-old Jaquarius Trayquan Etheridge, is facing multiple charges including murder, attempted murder, fleeing and eluding, and a weapons offense in connection with the incident. He is being held in custody without the possibility of release on bond.
As of mid-morning Tuesday, the third suspect who was pursued over the bridge by K-9 Streeter remains at large.
A shooting incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Massachusetts Avenue and Montclair Elementary School, involving the discharge of approximately 40 rounds. An elderly woman, aged 70, has allegedly been shot in the neck as reported by NorthEscambia News.
K-9 Streeter has been treated and released. His recovery is ongoing. A pursuit was initiated and came to a halt when deputies employed a PIT maneuver to immobilize the stolen vehicle on the Highway 90 Bridge over Escambia Bay, near Scenic Highway.
