$2M worth of Narcotics Confiscated by King County Sheriff’s Office during successful Drug Bust

After a long investigation into drug dealing activities, the King County Sheriff’s Office turned over three suspects to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, who quickly filed criminal charges.

Several storage spaces, cars, and apartment units belonging to the defendants—Valentin Garcia Lazcanogarcia, Miguel A. Hernandez Domingo, and Jose Ignacio Pelaez—were associated with drug trafficking in South King County, and the investigation into this matter began in the summer of 2023.

On May 2, the authorities found what they thought was a storage container housing the trafficking operation’s cache. The criminal documents state that while Pelaez was exiting a storage unit, surveillance teams saw him with a black garbage bag containing almost 13,000 fentanyl pills, cash, and other valuables.

Defendants’ residences and cars were subject to additional search warrants, which yielded even more illicit substances, including as 95,000 fentanyl tablets and two bricks of fentanyl powder. Along with around 125,000 grams of fentanyl, 286 grams of heroin, 1121 grams of meth, fraudulent identification cards, and about $32,000 in cash, deputies also discovered these items.

The seizure of these narcotics, which deputies believe had a combined street value of more than $2 million, dealt a heavy blow to the region’s illicit drug activity.

Prosecutors have requested hefty bond sums for the three individuals in response to the accusations brought forth by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The bond amounts for the three accused are $100,000, $250,000, and $250,000, respectively. At 9 a.m. on May 20, at the Maleng Regional Justice Center (MRJC) in Kent, the three defendants will be arraigned to enter initial pleas.

Violations of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act, including possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine, are among the allegations leveled against the defendants.
